Engineering Physics is at the intersection of electrical engineering, mathematics, applied physics, and the natural sciences, preparing engineering physicists to tackle the big problems at the leading edge of innovation and technology.

The University of Alberta's Engineering Physics program starts with a strong foundation in mathematics and physics and builds upon these principles through active research projects in areas such as artificial intelligence, microelectronics, robotics systems, autonomous systems, and quantum computing. These skills, combined with engineering problem-solving expertise, make our graduates highly sought-after in any industry they wish to pursue.

    All students in the Qualifying Year in the Faculty of Engineering follow a common curriculum in their first year. At the end of the first year, students choose among the various specialized Engineering programs offered and between the traditional and cooperative education streams.
